Morning Activity
Complement your Spanish classes Medellin with a visit to the Museo de Arte Moderno (MAMM), a portal to the contemporary artistic expressions of Colombia.
Wander the galleries, engaging with the Spanish-language exhibits and signage to deepen your understanding of the themes and techniques on display. If something piques your interest, ask staff for more information using phrases like “¿Me puede contar más sobre esta obra?” (Can you tell me more about this piece?).
The museum is open every day including public holidays from 11am-6pm (except Mondays and the day after a public holiday) and general admission is 12,000COP.
To the rear of museum, you can buy some authentic artisan products from the museum shop.
Afternoon Activity
After taking in all that art you'll probably be ready for a coffee and some fresh air to process everything you've just seen. Luckily right next to the MAMM you'll find several cozy cafes and a peaceful park where locals enjoy strolling, walking their dogs, or showing off tricks at the skatepark.
Just a two-minute walk north, you'll find the vibrant Mercado del Río, a bustling food hall featuring a diverse array of food stalls, cafés, and bars. We highly recommend taking your time to explore the more than 30 restaurants, each offering unique flavors and experiences.
As you wander, don’t hesitate to chat with the friendly and passionate chefs and vendors. It’s the perfect opportunity to practice your Spanish while deciding which of the many tempting cuisines you’ll indulge in today, try saying: “¿Qué ingredientes lleva este plato?” (What ingredients are in this dish?).
The food hall is open everyday from 8am and closes around 10pm, later on weekends. It’s a great place to meet Colombian friends, there is something for everyone’s budget and you all pay separately so no complications of splitting bills.

Their specialty is the tasting menu of which they also have a vegetarian option.
El Cielo – run by Michelin star award winning Colombia chef Juan Manuel Barrientos you’ll be treated to a variety of experiences that you’ll never forget. This is molecular gastronomy so you might leave hungry but at least you’ll get great instagram fotos. Probably the most expensive dining experience in Medellin.
Oci.mde - under Chef Laura Londoño's guidance, Oci enhances Medellín's culinary scene by blending international techniques with Colombian traditions. Emphasizing locally sourced ingredients, the restaurant offers sophisticated, slow-cooked sharing plates that reflect Colombia's rich culture and biodiversity. It’s one of our favorite restaurants and you might be likely to spot a celebrity or two, even Tom Cruise stopped by. You can also stop by for just a cocktail to take in the atmosphere.
